You Are Uncontainable

I saw a report on television not too long ago about a young girl who had severe Autism. Her name is Carly. For years, she had never spoken a word or communicated in any way. It looked as if she were mentally retarded. All through the day, she would flail her arms and have uncontrollable fits. At seven years old, the authorities tried to talk her parents into putting her in a special home. They said, "She's never going to get any better. She doesn't even comprehend the love that you're showing much less what you're constantly saying to her." Her parents wouldn't hear of it. They just kept loving her, training her and speaking faith into her.

One day out of the blue at eleven years old, Carly sat down at the computer and typed these words, "I have Autism, but this is not who I am. Take time to know me before you judge me. I am smart, cute and funny, and I love to have fun." At that point, the parents realized Carly was in there. She just hadn't found a way to communicate before. Later she typed, "Dad, thank you for believing in me. I know I'm not the easiest child in the world to love, but you are always there for me to pick me up when I fall." The father said those words were worth every frustration and every sleepless night. They even discovered that Carly has a sense of humor. When asked about her little brother, she sat down and typed, "Matthew smells so bad even skunks run and hide." Today at fourteen, Carly is still amazing people everywhere. She's in the process of writing her first novel. Even though she still has severe Autism, still confined to a body that doesn't function normally, she cannot be contained. Nothing will stop her from fulfilling her destiny.

Today, I'm asking you to get rid of any excuses that would try to hold you back. Quit thinking, "I'm not talented enough. I've made too many mistakes. I've got this handicap." No, you are a barrier breaker. You are uncontainable. God wants to use you to influence others. If Carly can do it, you can do it. Unlock the seeds of greatness within you.

Those seeds are waiting to take root and flourish. And know this, right now, God is breathing in your direction. Vision is increasing. Faith is rising. Dreams are coming back to life. You have not seen your best days. You may have had some victories in your past, but what God has in store in your future will supersede anything you could even imagine. Keep pressing forward, keep stretching your faith and believing for bigger things because God is going to pour out His favor in unprecedented ways!

You are....
* You are the friend of God
* You are blessed to be blessing
* You are capable
* You are valuable

Hearing the Voice of God

God wants to lead you by His Spirit. He wants to help you make the right decisions and know the right things. The Scripture says in John 10, "My sheep hear My voice." If we are going to be His sheep, we have to learn that voice. We have to know that voice. We have to tune into Him so we can hear Him clearly. God doesn't speak to everyone in the same way, and learning to hear Him for yourself is a process. Sometimes we are going to make mistakes, but He is a patient teacher and knows how to get our attention.

Years ago when our son was only a year old, we had just moved into a new house, and all week long we had servicemen coming in and out. One afternoon, I put my son down for his nap in my bedroom downstairs and went upstairs to unpack some boxes. As I was working, I remembered that a repairman was supposed to call me to schedule an appointment for something, and then the thought came that I left my phone on the kitchen table. I was tired of people coming in and thought, "Oh well, I'll just reschedule that later." But then the thought came again, "Go get your phone off the kitchen table." This time it was stronger. I tried to reason it away, but it wouldn't go away. "If you take care of it now, you won't have to do it later." Well, I finally walked downstairs to get my phone, and as I came around the corner, there was a huge ball of smoke and a fire in the middle of my kitchen! I was shocked; but thankfully, I had a fire extinguisher and was able to put out the fire. I found out later that it was because I had a candle burning that was sitting too close to a dried flower arrangement on the table.

I can't even imagine what would have happened if I would have ignored that inner prompting. See, God knew exactly what it would take to get me to go into the kitchen. What if He would have brought the thought to my mind, "There's a fire in your kitchen." I would have thought, "Nah, that's silly!" or "Get behind me, Satan!" I probably would have thought it was just me. But God knew how to reach me, and it taught me more about how to trust that inner prompting.

I want to encourage you today to listen to that still, small, inner voice. So many people wonder, "God is this You or is it just me?" Well remember, as a believer, God is in you. If the thought is reasonable and right, do it! If it lines up with the Word of God, do it! Whether it's helping someone, sharing an idea, or even getting your phone off the kitchen table, God knows how to lead you. Trust Him because you can hear His voice today and every day!

Having Now Faith

By Joel Osteen

So often we have faith for the future. We believe one day God is going to do something great. One day we'll get a good break. One day we'll start to feel better. One day we'll see a problem turn around. While it's good to have faith for the future and believe that God is going to take care of us, sometimes we can become so future minded that we lose sight of the fact that God wants to do something great in our life today. Today, God wants to show you His favor. Today, God wants to amaze you with His goodness. He is called "The Great I Am," not "The Great I Was" or "The Great I Will Be." God is always in the present. God wants to do something great in your life now. Release your faith today. God has now blessings for those that will dare to have a now faith.

Freedom From Competition

by Joel Osteen

God wants you to live in freedom from competition with others. It's easy to go through life competing with everyone around us. When we see someone that's more talented, more beautiful, or has more gifts, instead of running our own race and being comfortable with who we are, so often we feel inferior and think, we've got to catch up to them.We begin to compete and compare. But this is a never-ending cycle; there will always be someone ahead of us that is more of this or that. Learn to be the best? that you can be and celebrate who God has made you to be. Learn not to be jealous of others; instead, celebrate what is going on in their life. If you desire to fulfill your God-given destiny and reach your full potential, learn to stay focused on who God has called you to be. As you do, you'll not only enjoy your life more, but you'll become all that He's created you to be because you're focused on your own race.

Grace for Every Season of Life

Devotions by Joel Osteen

God's grace is sufficient for every season of your life. His grace is not only there to save us; it's an enabling power that helps us accomplish what we normally could not do on our own. That means that no matter what you're facing or what lies in front of you, His grace will always be more than enough. Because of His grace, you don't have to live worried, wondering how you are going to make it. His grace is sufficient for your every need. When you're tempted to look ahead into tomorrow's worries, you can rest in God's grace knowing that He has fresh grace accompanying you each day to help you accomplish what's in front of you. God already has set into motion everything you need - not just to endure or barely make it. No, God's grace is a supernatural force breathing in your direction, causing you to rise above any situation. His wisdom, strength and favor are there. Now all you have to do is receive His grace today. And because of His great grace, you can live each day in victory.

God Can Speak to Us Even in Our Doubts

By Joel Osteen

God is with us through our times of faith and our times of doubt. You may have questions, and there may be things you don't understand that cause you to wonder where God is. But God is there. He is not a fair-weathered God; there for us when we're perfect and gone when we have questions. He is there when we don't understand, when we go through a loss. God is touched by the feelings of our infirmities. That means when you hurt, God hurts. When you're disappointed, God feels your pain. When you're discouraged, God know what it's like. In those times that we don't understand and feel alone and abandoned, God is not far away. He has a way of showing up and doing amazing things. The God we serve doesn't just show up in our times of faith, He even shows up in our times of doubt.

The Power of Forgiveness

I would like to share an incredible story of the power of forgiveness with you. And the best part is, this same power is available to all of us today, the "mighty power that raised Christ from the dead" (Ephesians 1:19-20, TLB). This power is yours because Jesus Christ arose from the tomb on that first Easter morning!

Nothing is more amazing or significant than the power displayed at the Resurrection. This is what separates our faith from any other on earth. Jesus paid the ultimate price for our sins on the cross. He lived a perfect and sinless life and gave it as a sacrifice for your sins and mine. And when all hope seemed to be gone He miraculously came to life again. What this means is:

When we accept Him as our Lord and Savior we are completely forgiven … for anything … for everything … forever!

The story begins with a boy when he was only 14 years old. His father was abusive and eventually the relationship erupted into a terrible fight. When it was all over the dad kicked his son out of the house.
We are completely forgiven ... forever!

That night all alone, this young boy was devastated, discouraged – his life seemed shattered. He had no place to go, and he finally decided that life just wasn't worth living. So, having lost all hope and having no one to turn to, he went to a big bridge and prepared to jump.

But just as he was about to jump, he heard a voice that said to him, "Don't do it! I'll be your father. I'll be your protector. I will guide you throughout life." All of a sudden, he sensed warmth all over his body, from his head to his feet. And he felt a love that he had never experienced before. What he was feeling was the unconditional love and acceptance of God. It was the love that the Bible promises: "Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will hold me close" (Psalm 27:10, NLT).

From that moment on, this teenager who suffered so much rejection, hurt and pain made a decision that would change the course of his life.

He decided that he wasn't going to hold a grudge against his father. He wasn't going to allow bitterness and unforgiveness to take root in his heart. Although he did not see his dad, he forgave him and let all the pain and hurt of his past go, and as he moved forward in hope and forgiveness, God began to supernaturally restore him.

Today, some 22 years later, this young man is a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was in the pulpit one Sunday when out of nowhere, his father walked into the auditorium. The young man hadn't seen his dad since that night when he was kicked out of his home. But at the end of that service, during the altar call, his dad came down with big tears running down his face. He not only asked his son to forgive him, but he asked Jesus to be the Lord of his life.

There must have been a lot of rejoicing in heaven that day, because the Bible says, "Heaven will be happier over one lost sinner who returns to God than over ninety–nine others who are righteous and haven't strayed away!" (Luke 15:7, NLT).

So I have good news for you today. No matter where you are in life, what problems you may struggle with, no matter what you have done in the past, or what someone else has done to you, Jesus is able to wipe the slate clean. You can experience that same power of the Resurrection. The power to be forgiven and to forgive. Jesus is alive – and He wants to live in and through you today – that is what Easter is all about.
Jesus is able to wipe the slate clean.

You may be in a relationship that has been dead for years, like this young man I told you about. You may be feeling the pain of negative words spoken over your life, or maybe you've spoken to someone else and you wish you could take back. Maybe there are things in your past that you think can't be forgiven. Or maybe you feel guilt for some past failure or resentment and unforgiveness toward someone who has wronged you.

Whatever your need may be, let God meet it! Allow the power of His forgiveness to sweep across your heart and life and make everything new.

I want to help you rediscover that power in a new, fresh way – so you can experience hope, peace, joy and victory in every area of your life.

God is not waiting for you to become a better person before He forgives you. Jesus paid the price on the cross for all our sins – "while we were yet sinners Christ died for us," the Bible says in Romans 5:8. He did it simply because He loves you and wants to have a relationship with you.

And the result of this astounding, unconditional love and total forgiveness is that we no longer have to live under the condemnation and guilt of sin. We can live the abundant life that Jesus talked about – a life full of hope, a life of purpose, a life of unlimited potential.

Thriving Every Day

"...I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance, to the full, till it overflows" (John 10:10 AMP).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

God doesn't want you to live with a "barely-get-by" attitude. He has new seasons of increase in front of you. He wants you to thrive, to live an abundant, overflowing life. Sometimes when things seem difficult, it's easy to slip into a "survival mode." When times get tough, it's tempting to just hunker down and settle where you are. If you're not careful, you'll develop a survival mentality that will keep you from growing and releasing your faith. You'll be happy just to "break even." But as God's children, we're not supposed to just break even; we're supposed to break through to a new level! We're supposed to believe for more of God's favor, increase, and promotion no matter what is happening in the world around us. Make up your mind today that no matter how difficult things seem, you are going to thrive every day! Take hold of God's promises and declare that you are rising higher. As you continue to expect His favor and increase, you'll see His hand of blessing in your life, and you will thrive and live in victory all the days of your life.

A Prayer for Today

Father in heaven, thank You for giving me life. I choose today to agree with Your Word which says I can thrive and enjoy my life to the full. Help me see Your hand at work more and more each day. I bless You and give You praise. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

You are An Example

"Let your light shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven" (Matthew 5:16).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

You are God's representative in this earth. When you follow the Word of God and allow Him to work in your life, you are letting your light shine. When you are good to people and show them kindness, even when they don't deserve it, you are shining your light. When you smile and keep a good attitude, even when things don't go your way, you are setting an example so that people will glorify God in heaven. Notice this scripture says, "they will see your good works..." People aren't impressed by our knowledge or what we say, people are drawn to God by our good works. Ask the Lord to show you ways to share His goodness with others. Look for opportunities to let your light shine everywhere you go - at home, at work, in the grocery store, at the gym. There's always an opportunity to be an example of God's goodness. As you do, it will bring honor and glory to God; and when you honor Him, He always honors you. He will continue to pour out His abundant blessing in every area of your life.

A Prayer for Today

Father in heaven, thank You for trusting me to be Your representative in the earth. Show me ways to reflect Your goodness to others. Use me today everywhere I go for Your glory. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Cast Your Cares

"Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you" (I Peter 5:7).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

God cares so much about you today. Not only does He love and care about you, He cares about the things that concern you as well. If you have concerns, worry or anxiety about something in your life today; finances, relationships, your job or anything else, know that your Heavenly Father already has a plan to take care of those things for you. It’s a good plan, and He wants to show Himself strong on your behalf. The scripture reminds us that the lilies of the field and the birds of the air are cared for, how much more will your Heavenly Father take care of you? Make the decision today to cast all of your anxiety on Him by choosing to trust that He is going to take care of you. Refuse to dwell on your problems and don’t allow them to steal your peace and joy any longer. Instead, choose to meditate on His Word and confess God’s promises over your life. As you cast your cares on Him, you’ll experience His peace and joy, and you will live the life of blessing He has in store for you.

A Prayer for Today

Father in heaven, thank You for caring for me. I choose today to cast my cares on You and trust that You are working behind the scenes on my behalf. I bless and magnify You today. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Avoid Strife

“ It is an honor for a man to cease from strife ” (Proverbs 20:3)

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

Strife is a very destructive force. It can creep into relationships by starting small, maybe through a comment or a wrong look from someone, and can then escalate into something much bigger. But when you choose to cease from strife and overlook an offense, you are acting honorably, and you are honoring God. How do you avoid strife? The Bible tells us that love covers over many offenses. It means that you give people the benefit of the doubt. You consider what they may be going through over how they reacted to you. Maybe someone was short with you at the office, but they may have a loved one in the hospital, or they may have some other concern. Instead of getting upset, walk in love—be patient, be kind to them. Choose to avoid strife. Look for ways to walk in unity with the people in your life. The Bible says that He has commanded the blessing when we walk and live in unity. Choose unity today and watch the hand of the Lord move mightily on your behalf!

A Prayer for Today

Father God, today I choose Your ways. I invite Your plan to unfold in my life. Help me to avoid strife so I can walk in peace and unity and honor you all the days of my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

He Meets Your Needs

"God will supply all your needs according to His riches in Glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

Aren't you glad we serve a God who promises to supply all our needs! When you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and follow His commands, you have access to God and everything He is; peace, provision, protection and more. That means no matter what is happening in the world today, as you obey God's Word, your needs will be met. No matter what is going on with the economy, gas prices, or housing market, God is still your Source; and if your Source is okay, then you are okay, too. Rest assured there is no lack in heaven. Not only is God able to meet your needs, He wants to meet your needs. It gives Him great pleasure to bless and prosper you. Begin to expect that God is working Rata Penuhbehind the scenes on your behalf. Look for His hand of provision in your life and praise Him for His faithfulness. As you do your part, God will do His part. He will open the windows of heaven and pour out His abundant blessing on every area of your life.

A Prayer for Today

Father in heaven, thank You for Your provision in my life. Thank You for loving me and guiding me. I trust that You are meeting every one of my needs today. Help me to follow Your commands that I may honor You. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Strong On Your Behalf

"The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are loyal toward Him" (II Chronicles 16:9).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

God wants to show Himself strong on your behalf! He's looking for hearts that are faithful to Him. He wants to amaze you with His goodness, and make you an example of His faithfulness—especially when everything around you seems difficult. It's not much of a stretch to believe for blessing and promotion when everyone is being blessed. When everything is going great around you, it's easy for people to look at your life and say, "Oh, that's just because the economy is strong and we live in a land of abundance." But when things don't look so good and you prosper anyway, that's a greater testimony to the world. People will know that it makes a difference to serve the Most High God! Keep your heart turned toward God and expect increase even if things look difficult. Remember, God wants to show Himself strong on your behalf. He is building a testimony in you. He wants to pour out His abundant blessing and fulfill every dream and desire in your heart to His glory!

A Prayer for Today

Father in heaven, thank You for Your goodness and desire to show Yourself strong on my behalf. I invite You to work in my life. Keep my heart and mind close to You always. I bless Your Holy Name. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Completely Satisfied

“Blessed, fortunate, happy and spiritually prosperous…are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, uprightness and right standing with God, for they shall be completely satisfied” (Matthew 5:6 AMP).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

God longs to pour out his abundant blessing on every area of your life. He wants you to live completely satisfied. When you hunger and thirst for righteousness--God’s way of doing things--then you will live in complete satisfaction. You direct your hunger by choosing what you focus on. For example, if you focus on your favorite food, if you start thinking about it early in the morning, and all throughout the day, chances are, by the end of the day you’ll be eating it! What you give your attention to, you will desire. In the same way, the more you give your attention to God and His Word, the more you will hunger for Him. Just like the scripture promises, when you hunger for righteousness, you will be completely satisfied. The world offers so many things for you to give your attention to, but they aren’t things that will satisfy. You might think you want a particular car, or certain clothes, or live in a particular neighborhood. There’s nothing wrong with those things, but understand that “things” won’t ever satisfy you. Recognize that only God will satisfy you. As you hunger for Him, you’ll live in peace and blessing and live completely satisfied all the days of your life!

A Prayer for Today

Father in Heaven, I come to You today, I ask for forgiveness for allowing anything to capture my heart and attention more than You. I choose today to give You top priority, and choose to hunger for Your righteousness. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

The Power of Peace

“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27).

No matter what may be going on all around you today, you can still live in peace. The scripture encourages us to not let our hearts be troubled. In other words, don’t meditate on all the negative things in this world to the point that it steals your peace. If you have fear, worry or anxiety about anything, recognize that those feelings aren’t from God because He has promised to give you a spirit of power, love and a sound mind. There is tremendous power in peace. When you are at peace internally, you can think more clearly. You can hear the voice of God more easily. You’ll make better decisions. Even your physical body responds to peace. The enemy knows this, and his goal is to steal your peace. He tries to set you up to get upset. But when you choose to receive God’s peace, then no weapon formed against you shall prosper. You can live in peace, you can live in joy, and you can live the abundant life God has for you.

A Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your gift of peace in my life. I choose to receive Your peace in my heart and hold it close to me always. I receive Your Word as truth and life to my soul. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Rest for Your Soul

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

God wants to give you rest. He wants to refresh and restore your soul, which is your mind, will and emotions. It’s so easy to get caught up in the busyness of life, and before long, your mind, will and emotions are so “spun up” that you can barely think straight! But even among the hustle of life, you can find rest, ease and relaxation. God wants you to enjoy your life. That’s why He tells us to come to Him. When you understand that God wants to take care of everything that concerns you, you will be able to find rest. Imagine that someone came up to you today and said, “Give me all your monthly bills, I’m going to pay them.” You’d get pretty excited, wouldn’t you? But it wouldn’t happen until you did your part to give that person your bills. They couldn’t pay them for you if you never release them. In the same way, when we release our cares and concerns to God, He promises to take care of them. Choose today to release your cares to the Lord. As you do, you’ll find that rest that He promises, and you’ll live the abundant life He has for you!

A Prayer for Today

Father in heaven, today I humbly come to you. I choose to cast my cares on You so that I can live in Your rest. Thank You for Your goodness to me. Help me find ways to share Your goodness with those around me today. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

All Things Are Possible

"What is impossible with men is possible with God" (Luke 18:27).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

Is there a situation in your life today that seems impossible? As a child of the Most High God, you are not limited by what you see. You are not limited by your circumstances, the economy, or what others say because with God all things are possible! It doesn't matter how it may look in the natural, when you see things through your eyes of faith, you will see new possibilities. You will see the answer that is on its way! It all starts by having a grateful attitude: an attitude of faith and expectancy. When you declare the promises of God over your life and meditate on His Word, it activates faith in your heart. Faith draws the good things of God into your life. When you wake up every morning, declare that with God all things are possible. Declare that you are blessed and you cannot be cursed. Declare that you are above only and not beneath. Expect God's favor and blessing in your life every day. As you do, you will see Him move on your behalf, and you'll see new levels of possibility in every area of your life!

A Prayer for Today

Father in heaven, thank You for making a way where there seems to be no way. I choose an attitude of faith and expectancy today. Work in my heart and life that I may be a living testimony of Your goodness to those around me. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

The Place of Blessing

“Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah: Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan. You will drink from the brook, and I have ordered the ravens to feed you there” (I Kings 17:2-4).

As a child of the Most High God, your steps are ordered by Him. He has a specific place of blessing prepared for you. When you live a life of obedience to the Word of God, He promises to supply every one of your needs. Just as God directed Elijah to his place of blessing, God is directing you, too. He’s aligning the right opportunities for you and causing the right people to come along your path to help you get ahead. He’s constantly working behind the scenes on your behalf. But you have to do your part to keep your heart open by following His Word and keeping an attitude of faith and expectancy. A major key to keeping your heart in the right place is choosing peace and unity. The Bible says that when we live in unity, there He has commanded the blessing. And when your heart is in the place of blessing, the rest of your life will be in the place of blessing, too!

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, I come to You with a grateful heart. Thank You for leading me and directing my steps. Help me to see others the way You see them so I can honor You and live in unity all the days of my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Declare Your Freedom

"You have been set free from sin..." (Romans 6:18).

Today we celebrate Independence Day in America. July 4, 1776 was the day America declared independence from Britain, but the battle for freedom went on until 1783—seven years later. Even though they declared their freedom in 1776, they had to stand and fight for many years before the British would accept and recognize the United States of America. In the same way, we have to be determined to stand against the opposing forces in our lives. We have to declare our freedom from addiction, poverty, sickness and lack. We have to stand and fight until we fully experience that freedom and peace that God has promised. I love what the early colonists did once they signed the Declaration of Independence. They read it out loud in public. They published it in the newspaper. They spread the word. They continued to declare and celebrate even though they were in the midst of the battle. Whatever battle you may be facing today, declare that you are free. Declare that you are an overcomer. Celebrate the victory that is on its way! As you stand strong and declare your freedom, you will experience His victory and you will live in true freedom all the days of your life!

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, thank You for setting me free in every area of my life. I declare today that nothing can hold me back. I declare that I am free from sickness, poverty, lack and addiction. I declare that You have set me free and thank You for freedom in every area of my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
