God Saves - Part II

"The Kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the Gospel." -Mark 1:15

I once spent an evening with one of America's foremost psychiatrists, Dr. Karl Menninger. We were playing chess together in the Chicago home of a mutual friend, W. Clement Stone.

I was about to make my second move when the giant-minded Menninger glared at me over the chessboard and asked, "Dr. Schuller, do you preach repentance?"

I was taken aback, wondering what that question could possibly have to do with chess. Before I could answer, Dr. Menninger went on, saying, "Nothing will bring healing quicker to people than repentance. They are sinners. People know it. They are responsible for their own guilt! And they will never be healthy until they confess and repent before God."

I was reminded of St. Paul's words to the men of Athens: "... Now He (God) commands all people everywhere to repent." (Acts 17:30).

Deep within, I know the presence of God that is mine through Christ Jesus.
